Kansas City Hospital Hill Run Race Director Elected to Prestigious Running USA Board of Directors
Beth Salinger elected by her peers to two year term on 17-member board

Kansas City, MO (January 5, 2011) - Running USA, a national non-profit organization, is pleased to announce that  Kansas City’s Hospital Hill Run Race Director, Beth Salinger has been elected to their Board of Directors, consisting of distance running leaders.

 "I’m so thrilled to represent Kansas City and Hospital Hill Run on a national-level, as part of the Running USA Board of Directors,” said Salinger.

“It’s an honor and a responsibility that I’m really looking forward to.”

Salingerhas been the chairperson of the Running USA Membership Committee since January 2010. During that time, she helped to create new membership categories, communicate and deliver membership benefits, and led research endeavors in an attempt to better understand the needs and goals of Running USA’s constituents.

In July 2010, Salinger became the chair of the Running USA Marketing committee, while retaining her active position on the Membership Committee.

“I’ve always been passionate about running, and helping support an organization like Running USA, that does so much for runners and athletes across the country, is a natural extension of what I do as Director of Hospital Hill Run,” said Salinger. “My goal has always been to help runners see and reach the finish line.”

Salinger has been working in the running industry since 2001. She founded Endurance Marketing, Inc. in 2003, and has been the Race Director of Hospital Hill Run since 2007. During that time, she has grown the event by 237%. Over the years, Salinger has worked on hundreds of events from local 5Ks to larger national marathons.

About Hospital Hill Run

Hospital Hill Run is the oldest road race in Kansas City and the one of the oldest half marathon in the United States. First held in 1974 with a field of 99 athletes, Hospital Hill Run has grown in size and stature in the ensuing years, recently being named one of the top races in the country by Runner’s World magazine. Past competitors include such running legends as Olympic gold medalists Frank Shorter and Billy Mills and running legends Bill Rodgers and Jim Ryun, as well as over 100,000 ordinary Kansas and Missouri citizens running for the challenge, fun and fitness. In 2010 Hospital Hill Run hosted its largest field ever, when over 7,400 athletes took to the Kansas City streets. The 2011 Hospital Hill Run will take place on Saturday, June 4 at Crown Center.
