Three-Year Title Sponsorship Announced

(Tulsa – July 30, 2009) The directors of The Route 66 Marathon and Williams announced today that a three-year title sponsorship agreement is finalized and the new event names are The Williams Route 66 Marathon and The Williams Route 66 Quarter Marathon. The partnership allows Williams and the Route 66 Marathon team to build the November classic into one of the top marathon weekends in the country.

“For the last three years we have worked very hard to prove to the Tulsa community and the running world that Tulsa is ready to host a world-class marathon weekend,” said Route 66 Marathon executive director Chris Lieberman. “The three-year Williams sponsorship commitment confirms our vision for this community. We plan to continue building this event and showcasing Tulsa to our participants across the nation and around the world.”

Lieberman said having a company like Williams involved will help take the event to the next level.

The Williams Route 66 Marathon is run annually in Tulsa, Okla. on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. The fourth running of The Williams Route 66 Marathon is set for November 22, 2009. The Williams Route 66 Quarter Marathon is run annually on the first Saturday of August. The first running of The Williams Route 66 Quarter Marathon is set for August 1, 2009.
