OKC Turkey Trot and FOX 25 Announce Partnership

2009 Thanksgiving Morning Event to See Explosive Growth

(Oklahoma City – September 28, 2009)
OKC Turkey Trot and FOX 25 announce a partnership for FOX 25 to be the presenting media sponsor for the 2009 Thanksgiving Day Tradition. The Annual Thanksgiving Day Classic is under new management and will be re-located from Lake Hefner to downtown OKC to be more accessible and to accommodate the much larger participant and spectator crowds.

OKC Turkey Trot Executive Director Jeffrey Kidder states, “This will actually be the 10th Anniversary of the Thanksgiving Day tradition. It has been a bit under the radar, but now with our new management team and FOX 25 as our media partner we intend to give OKC an instant ‘must-do’ high impact Thanksgiving Morning event.” Kidder continues, “The beneficiary of the race will always be Eagle Ridge Institute, who started the Turkey Trot 9 years ago – and we intend to bring much more awareness to the wonderful work they do here in restoring lives and families here in Oklahoma.”

FOX 25’s morning anchor Angie Mock states, “We are so excited to finally call a running and walking event our own!” Mock continues, “We want to make a significant impact in our community in health and wellness for all our citizens, and what better way than through OKC Turkey Trot. It’s a great way to kick off the Holiday Season for us at FOX 25 and a way to help get the OKC metro healthier and happier. Our “official” Trot kickoff on-air was Thursday, September 24th on FOX 25 and every Thursday at 6:45am from now until race day we will be featuring Trot updates, training tips and other great ways to plug in to this Thanksgiving Morning Tradition in OKC – what a great start to the Holiday Season and a healthy lifestyle! ”

The OKC Turkey Trot is set for November 26, 2009 at 8:00am. The Trot is a 5K Run, a One Mile Kid’s and Family Event and Breakfast at The Trot, a special buffet breakfast that allows VIP viewing access, silent auction and other perks.
