Tulsa Area Runners To Celebrate Patriotism During Memorial Day Weekend

Volition America Offers 5K, Half Marathon and Mission March


Tulsa, Okla. – Volition America, a national running experience, will be coming to Tulsa on May 25. The event features a half marathon, 5K and 1.3K Folds of Honor Mission March- a march designed to solely raise funds for Tulsa-based Folds of Honor Foundation.

“The word volition means the power of choice,” says Keith Hughes, Volition America’s senior vice president of operations. “The choices we make define our lives and shape our futures.”

The run is designed to be a lasting experience for each participant. With flags waving, feet pumping and hearts racing, Volition American is the ideal way to celebrate Memorial Day weekend.

The Folds of Honor Mission March is a vital part of the event and is designed for people of all ages. This 1.3K walk led by the Budweiser Clydesdales requires no training. As a kick-off to the Patriot Cup gold tournament, Folds of Honor Mission March is only $13 per participant, and 100 percent of its funds are donated to the Folds of Honor Foundation. There are currently an estimated 1.5 million dependents who have had someone killed or disabled in Iraq or Afghanistan, and nearly 9 out of 10 receive no federal education assistance. It is Folds of Honor’s mission to leave no family behind through scholarships.

“It is just awesome to see like-minded American patriots join each other at the starting line for a best-in-class experience with the goal of being the Nation’s biggest and best half marathon series,” says Major Dan Rooney, an Owasso resident and founder of Volition America as well as Folds of Honor.
